Lucas Oil’s Jamie Veal wins on Warrnambool return

Warrnambool Sprintcar ace Jamie Veal has celebrated a perfect homecoming, winning the season opener at Sungold Stadium in the #V35 SWI Engineering/Lucas Oil Maxim.

After qualifying third in the 45 car field, Veal took out both his heats on convincing fashion – charging from last to first in the second - then went on to claim the 30-lap feature ahead of David Murcott and Darren Mollenoyux.

The 26-year old said a victory in front of a home crowd is always more memorable.

“The first show of the season at Sungold Stadium each year is always really exciting, so it’s great to come home and take a win,” Veal said.

“We struggled a bit in the first heat, but made an adjustment which really set us up for the rest of the night. It was a really wide, racy track and the SWI Engineering/Lucas Oil car was great down low and up high.”

Veal diced with Murcott in the opening laps of the A-Main, and but got the advantage with 20 laps to go and ran away to victory.

“I really enjoyed that battle with Murcott. It was really fun racing," he said.

“My focus is to win the 2015 Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic at Sungold Stadium, and our performance on Saturday shows we are definitely on track to do so."
